Hi , Canine congestion doesn't necessary mean it's a cold . I assume he is up to date on his vaccines including a distemper vaccine . His congestion could be from several things allergies being the number one reason . He could also have Parainfluenza which is a respiratory infection which is very contagious . I would consult my veterinarian for a diagnosis and a treatment plan . It is not advisable to give him over the counter human medication without the supervision of a veterinarian . It is to easy to over medicate which can be deadly . To many variables including his age , weight and overall health . I wish you and your canine friend the best !
