Ipod touch not responding

So today my IPod just randomly froze and stopped responding. I tried shutting it off but it isnt responding. I tried plugging it into the computer and it isnt responding. Its an ipod touch3rd generation. Do you have any advice?? And if I do get a new Ipod then is there any way I could get all my contacts and pictures back??

Take it into a Best Buy, or Apple store, or most any electronics/phone service store. Have them take out the battery for a few seconds, then reinsert it.

9 out of 10 time. this should fix it.

Just reset your iPod to factory settings - it's the common problem.
