Installing window films

How do you install window films and how long do they last? Do you need a specialist to install it? Does it affect the strength of the window glass?

It takes a little adjusting and maneuvering to get it right.  The main thing is to use a quality film because cheaper films are harder to move around once you get it on the glass.

There are static cling films which are very easy to install and remove, but their quality is not as good.
