Pure salt is sodium chloride.  Iodized salt includes small amounts (20 ppm) of sodium iodide, sodium iodate, potassium iodide, or potassium iodate. Salt may also include small quantities of calcium silicate or silicon dioxide to ensure that it pours freely without clumps.  In some countries, salt may also have fluoride for dental health.

Salt used on roads might also contain calcium chloride.
