How can I buy cheap bank repossessed or impounded cars for sale at auctions?

What have your experiences been with impounded cars, were there any problems? Did you get a good price?

I can't answer your specific question, but recycling is very much cheaper than refining Al ore.

You might try contacting Alcoa or similar company.

Try credit companies

Do a search on the major engines with the keyword "repossessed cars" - you could also do this with "repossessed+credit" and I'm sure you'll be looking at cars and places up to the point where you will be able to narrow it down to something more practical to you.

Deals are definitely there ( up to 80-90% off ). You just have to know where to look for these auctions and take some precautions.

- First look at local newspapers or online for both offline or online auctions. Try to find as many as you can. Check past auctions ( online) or attend a few offline auctions to get a hang on the codes, rules, who the usual attendees are ( particularly dealers), prices for which your car model usually goes, etc

- Then again go around till you find a serious auction with not too many attendees (particularly savvy individuals, as they don't have to win on the resell and therefore can afford to place higher bids).

- Check the car, ask for a vehicle history report, listen to the car when it's started from cold, since that's a good moment to find out if there's something wrong with the engine.

- Choose your highest bid after considering all hidden costs and don't go beyond that price.

- Don't hurry at offline auctions. Sometimes the lien holder will go for a lower price after some time, if the auction doesn't progress and they really need it.

Call the local county assessors office. You also need to ask them the process. Most states auction them off on the courtyard steps once a year.
