I am recenly divorced and furious.  I dated my ex-husband for three years while he over stayed his visa. After a year he proposed and we married two years later. We went through all the hoops to get him his greencard.  Two months after he recieved it he left while I was out of town, taking all the money out of the accounts and closing all the utilities.  I have a daughter from another relationship and we nearly found ourselves homeless. As time passed it became clear that this was his intent all along, unknown to me. He has completely devistated our lives. He has made a fool out of me.  I tried to find information on the US immigration website to find out about reporting this or recinding his greencard. But I cannot find any information on this.  Hopefully someone can help, I can't be the only idiot out there that was used to get a greencard.

A feeling of betrayal is devastating especially when you know you have been used. BUT you must put this painful affair behind you and get on with your life. If you don't and just focus on your hurt and revenge you will eventually destroy yourself.

Here are a few sites where you may be able to locate him:

If you were married less than 2 years, his green card is conditional.  Immigration will not do anything to him.  When his green card expires at end of 2 years, he will need to file an I-751 with immigration to get the conditions removed on his green card.  At this time he needs to show he is still happily married to you or that the marriage ended, but he entered into it in good faith and it just did not work out.  He will need to proof that the two of you at least started off with a legit marriage.  Such as utility bills, bank statements, insurance, etc...If his green card is valid for 10 years it is what I call the permanent green card.  Not much you can do at that point.  You can report it to investigations, but they probably will not bother with it.  It is not what they consider top priority.  They are more interested in the criminal aspect cases.  Now, you can and I suggest that you put your side of the story in writing and route it to his file.  Now, when he does apply to remove conditions, hopefully they will look twice at this case.  STAY ON IT.  Even if his card is NOT conditional, but your side in writing and route it to his file.  When he applies for US Citizenship it should be questioned at the interview.  Good Luck!  And if he is still in contact with you, document and send to immigration to route to file.

Getting divorced shortly after getting a greencard could be interpreted by immigration that the marriage was not in good faith, but to get immigration benefits. If he got the 10 year card after being married for 2 years he will keep the greencard. The divorce won't matter.  Too bad, you only filed a divorce. Hope you filed an annulment because it's more crucial. Once you file an annulment meaning your marriage as if never happened and his green card will also vanish and he can do nothing but go back home. Anyway, contact the ICE http://www.ice.gov/about/contact.htm
