No!  My grandparents had to wait to come here from Italy and Poland.  They came legally and through the proper channels.  What part of ILLEGAL aliens do people not get???

Illegal aliens are, by definition, not about to apply for citizenship.  In all too many cases, they have violent criminal records, are into illegal enterprises, and suffer other automatic bars from legal residency.

INS regulations make it easy enough for people to become citizens.

Let them apply.

Even light will bend to do our bidding if we apply force correctly. The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven, whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long. No man stands taller than when he stoops to help a little child.

BLANKET AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

Ever since the Democrats won big last November we have been reporting on the issues that matter most to the far-left element of that party, because those people are the ones putting big pressure on President-elect Obama.
So far there are three major issues the far left is crazed about. First, the dismantling of the Bush-Cheney anti-terror policies. Second, the legalization of gay marriage. And third, blanket amnesty for foreign nationals living in the USA illegally, and allowing them citizenship.
The latest salvo on that front was fired by Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles, who is an ardent supporter of amnesty. Speaking to the National Immigration Forum, the cardinal said: "Immigrants must be brought out of the shadows so that they can fully contribute to our nation's future economic and social well-being."
Cardinal Mahoney remains crystal clear. He wants the folks who have entered the USA illegally to have the same rights and privileges as American citizens.
Now, it's important to understand the cardinal's point of view. Most illegal aliens are good people. They are poor. They are Catholic. They have come to America to try for better lives. All compassionate people should sympathize with the downtrodden all over the world. We should try when we can to help them.

But the cardinal is naïve and irresponsible when he neglects to uphold the rule of law. The far left well understands that a massive influx of foreign nationals will result in voting patterns being changed, power shifting to the left. That's the end game for the radical left.

Mahoney is coming at this from a humanitarian point of view, but he is being dishonest if he does not acknowledge the political and social implications of anarchy. The United States simply cannot allow every person in the world entry. Our resources are severely strained now. Parts of Los Angeles are simply chaotic, with alien gangs controlling entire neighborhoods. The cardinal needs to take a walk around his hometown.

President Obama must be fair on this issue. Americans have overwhelmingly told Congress that they reject blanket amnesty, want a secure border, and then will consider work permits for illegals. This issue can be worked out, but only if the rule of law is upheld.

Here's the final hypocrisy on this. The far left is screaming that President Bush and Vice President Cheney should be investigated for breaking the law, even though there is no evidence of that. Yet, the same radical left aids and abets lawbreaking everyday on the illegal alien front. This nonsense has got to stop. If Congress doesn't like the immigration laws, revoke them.

"Talking Points" says no to blanket amnesty, and yes to immigration discipline.

And that's "The Memo."

Pinheads & Patriots

We like the cartoon strip Mallard Fillmore a lot. On Monday, Bruce Tinsley predicted the Secret Service would have a new challenge in 2009: keeping the media from smooching President Obama's rear. A reference to NBC News provided the punch line. Bruce Tinsley is a patriot.

On the pinhead front, there is a downside to serving coffee in a bikini. But some ladies in Tacoma, Washington, do it anyway, getting big publicity.

So what happens? Well, a holdup man robs the Java Girls of $600. The cops know the guy, Patrick Lamp, and are looking for him.

He shouldn't be hard to find. He has the words "Anti-Christ" tattooed on his neck. He should have the word "Pinhead" there as well.

Mexico Is Second Most Dangerous Country For Journalists, Behind Iraq

In a 2006 summary of world-wide attacks on journalists, Mexico ranked at a shocking second place, only topped by Iraq. Two years later, Mexico is still ranked in the top 10 most dangerous countries for journalists to work in, and this is a democracy we’re talking about. The attacks come from all sides, as both criminal gangs and government officials target journalists who probe a little too deep, and the biggest complaint is how often these crimes go unpunished and how the afflicted have no recourse to justice. One article describes the recent rise in violence:

Over the last few years, grenades have been thrown into newspaper offices, reporters gunned down in the streets and in June, a severed head was left in front of a newspaper office here accompanied by a handwritten threat against its director, Juan Padilla.

Last year 6 journalists were killed, and already in 2008 two have been murdered. This isn’t taking into account all the death threats, attempted murders and violent crimes against other journalists, and we haven’t even gotten to kidnappings yet.

Only Russia—where seven journalists disappeared in the mid-1990s while covering an insurgent war in the republic of Chechnya—has experienced a comparable period of disappearances.

What is especially shocking are the statistics on who is doing the killing, as estimated in a report by the human rights organization, Article19;

Contrary to popular opinion, statistics from Article19 report that state authorities remain the main perpetrators of the attacks, rather than organized crime networks. The Authorities commit 42% of the attacks, with 24% carried out by police, 12% by government employees and 2% by government institutions. Other groups to blame for the aggression include the drug cartels operating in the country (11%) and groups involved in social conflict.

Another part of what makes it so difficult for these crimes to be solved is the fact that murder is a state crime in Mexico, meaning it is handled by local authorities who may fear local retribution or who may even be in on the crime themselves. The lack of federal investigation means that the perpetrators grow bold, seeing there is no one willing to confront them, with the result that crimes are often committed in broad daylight, with no regard for witnesses or police forces. Mexico’s present, Felipe Calderón, has agreed to consider pushing legislation to “federalize” crimes against journalists, but what good will that do, if the most danger comes from the authorities themselves?

Relatives and colleagues of several victims said in interviews that they believe local public officials played a role in the disappearances. In at least five of these cases the missing reporters had investigated links between local government officials and organized crime in the weeks before they vanished.

The situation has become too much to handle for some, like Alejandro Junco, the owner of Mexican newspapers Reforma and El Norte who has announced he is moving his family to America because they no longer feel safe in Mexico.

Some well-documented cases of unsolved crimes against journalists:

newspaper%20100709.jpg

  • José Antonio García Apac: García reported on organized crime in Michoacán, and the newspaper where he worked published stories on links between local police and hit-men. On November 20th, 2006, he called his house from a phone booth, but was accosted by men demanding he identify himself, and his son overheard him being dragged away before the line went dead. García has not been found.

francisco%20javier%20ortiz%20franco%20100709.jpg

  • Francisco Javier Ortiz Franco: Tijuana journalist Ortiz Franco reported on a story involving drug cartel member Arturo “El Nalgón” Villarreal, claiming that Villarreal was behind the assassination of an Assistant State Attorney. Soon after, Ortiz Franco was shot and fatally wounded inside his car in June of 2004.

Amado%20Ramirez%20100709.jpg

  • Amado Ramírez Dillanes: Televisa correspondant Ramírez had been receiving death threats on his cell phone after airing a report on local drug traffickers. As he left the Acapulco office on April of 2007 he was shot by an unidentified gunman. Two men were later arrested, but then set free on lack of evidence.

A conference sponsored by Article19 and the International News Safety Institute (INSI) was held in Mexico City on October 6th and 7th, inspiring hopes that some progress might soon be made in the struggle to improve conditions for journalists in Mexico.

Eight shot dead in Mexico attack

map

Eight people, including two youths of 17 and a 12-year-old girl, were shot dead when gunmen opened fire on their cars, Mexican officials say.

The attack happened as the victims were waiting at a traffic light in the city of Guamuchil in the state of Sinaloa.

Hours earlier gunmen in Mazatlan, on Sinaloa's coast, killed a policeman and then took dozens of people hostage in a restaurant before escaping.

Mexico has seen a surge in drug-related violence and killings during 2008.

According to officials, the Guamuchil attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

Gunmen travelling in three vehicles opened fire with automatic weapons on four other cars, officials said. Seven people were killed outright, one died later in hospital and another five were injured.

Among the victims were a 12-year-old girl, two young men aged 17 and two 18-year-old women, Mexican media reported.

A local newspaper, El Debate, said that police found some 300 bullet casings at the scene of the shooting.

It is not clear whether the victims' cars were targeted or whether they were caught up in a shootout between rival drug gangs.

It is true that narcotics related violence has risen to a near crippling level within Mexico. The drug cartels and their enforcers become more and more brazen with each passing day!

Amazingly all the fighting is about the lucrative smuggling trade in supplying the United States illegal drug market.

There are two solutions that can ease the problem. The first and most sensible one is to simply legalize Marijuana, Cocaine and Heroine. It would immediately put all the illegal narcotics traffickers out of business. The reality is that the War on Drugs has not stopped their use domestically or even curbed their use, but has simply given rise to a huge Prison/Industrial Complex within the United States as our prison population has swolen to become by far the largest in the world. While the average mom and dad would argue on moral grounds against legalization the Government publicly would do the same but privately billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs are involved in the war on drugs and it has become a part of our shattered economy the government would not be anxious to do away with.

The second option of course is to truly seal and police the border. Once again this is not something the government wants to do as big business and little business alike profit off of illegal immigrant labor that is deemed vital to the economy as well. Of course the only thing it is vital too is exhorbitant profits but those are the special interests that fund politicians. Additionally winning the war on drugs is not something the government is keen to do because it would result in having to trime billions from the budget and countless jobs. The war on drugs is much more like a business than a war, much like the war on terrorism is.

Finally we have to be cognizant of lenghty rumors that the CIA is involved in drug smuggling and that their is a potential that the rise of the Narco Traffickers in Mexico has been funded and encouraged by U.S. Intelligence as a means to destabilize Mexico and to incorporate it into a larger North American Union.

Either way the problems in Mexico are largely to be blamed on the United States. It is our unending appetite for illegal drugs and cheap labor that drive the problem in Mexico.

Please excuse me but my maid Guadalupe has just finished rolling a joint for me! Got to go!
