It sort of sounds like a Madonna whore complex.
Like maybe he's afraid of bespotting you.
It also sounds like he is almost phonetically afraid of having children.
Then again, he could also be gay.
I would say you two need counseling.

I think you mean "pathologically," not "phonetically." "Phonetically" would apply to his spelling words by the way they sound instead of by applying the rules of grammar and spelling. Doesn't fit in this situation.
