If you cannot store the entire unit in a safe and secure place disconnect the tank, store in a shed or garage, and anchor the grill best you can.

Dear Ellen,

I'm so sorry I didn't see your question yesterday.  "G" was right.  If you are now in an area with no electricity, though, and you are not familiar with how to use it, don't start now; ask a neighbor for help; it might make for a better dinner!

Also, absolutely, positively, DO NOT bring a propane grill or any other kind of grill into your home, apartment, etc. to make dinner.  This is a perfect way to survive a storm and get killed during the recovery period.

Stay safe, Mary

As an additional consideration for your propane grill, think about this.  If your area is hit hard by a hurricane and you're using your grill to cook with, be careful about WHEN you use it.  If time has dragged on, like after Katrina, and neighbors are running out of food and the smell of your grilling is wafting over the neighborhood, guess who's about to become supply central?

Prepare your family first, try to help others whenever you can, but keep in mind that things may change the longer an emergency scenario lasts.

What is the best type of barbecue- gas or coal?

Hi, If you think lighting up and cooking with charcoal is a hassle go for a gas bbq grill - it's much easier to use, but more expensive to get set up. Some say charcoal grills give a better flavour, but I doubt that many people can tell the difference. Either way, get a grill with a lid - you ...

Is a propane tank with a portable double burner safe for use installed in

Safe, not at all. It's illegal to store any propane indoors. Propane is VERY dangerous stuff. It's heavier than air. If you get a leak it'll fill up the room or apartment at the floor level until it finds a pilot light, then it'll ignite and level the apartment. Natural gas is lighter than air ...
