The best answer is supplied by the almighty when he was slandered by satan who implied that God had withheld something good from mankind. He also said that no man would serve God under extreme test. God in his wisdom allowed mankind to individually provide the answer by maintaining integrity under test. That was the best answer, to allow those who were involved to be tested. Some have remained faithful under test. So restraint and wisdom produces the best answer

Never listen to haters, try to be greater

The best way is to resist the tendency to return evil for evil. Doing so will only lend credibility to the slanderers lie. You mussle the ignorant talk by continuing to do good and maintaining an excellent spirit. I know from experience that doing so is very hard to do but it provides the best answer to the lie. Forgiving the liar is helpful in order for you to move on with your life and not allow bitterness to absorb your energies. Depending on the seriousness of the lie you will at least learn to endure under suffering and if you are suffering for the sake of your belief then it is with a purpose that you are enduring. That will give you the strength to continue enduring.
