Huge Tree Move

Can you plant a tree that is already grown huge? Or to reformulate, can you move a tree from one location to another and how exactly would you go about it?

There are machines called "tree spades" that are usually mounted on trucks or trailers that can transplant trees. They are limited to the size of the tree they can safely move. A tree with a trunk of less than 6 inches and a height of less than 35 feet can be transplanted with great chance of the tree continuing to live.

it will depend somewhat on the tree..and where and how it's growing...but i recently saw a program..where a golfcourse somewhere in the midwest(?)...moved a coupla of really large oak trees..(3'-4' diameter trunks..50"-60" tall)..which is bigger than treespade capacity.they made platforms that moved on rollers(maybe 20'-30' x 20'-30' steel 10"-12"pipe)...they cut down 7'-8' in a square around the trees in a pattern matching the platform.."jetted "the platforms into place under the trees...and slowly pulled the platforms..placing the pipe in front in a series to roll the trees along....no idea of the sucess..how correctly the tree is maintained through transplant shock..will be a factor....mbb
