Coleman furnaces are designed to keep the fan on until the heat exchanger has cooled to a specific temperature. It MUST stay on until the exchanger has cooled or else the exchanger will burn out.

I had exactly the same problem. There was a piece of heavy duty tape that covered a temp sensor on the freon line inside near the compressor that had come loose. I think it allows the line to warm up before the fan turns on. Anyway after i replaced the tape, I havent had a problem since.
