How do I make gravy for my cat's food?
Make some meat stock - beef, lamb, chicken, fish. Put it in water and barely boil it for several hours. I would run some of the cooked meat thru a blender and add it to the stock.
Put equal amounts of whole wheat flour and a polyunsaturated oil in a heavy skillet and cook over a low heat until the flour starts to brown. You will need to be stirring this with a whisk all the time. Start adding the stock while stirring. The mixture will initially lump up. Do not be alarmed. Keep stirring. You might want to add some milk. When you achieve the consistency that you want, then you are done.
Cancers can, in and of themselves, decrease the appetite. If my memory serves me, FLV can affect the gums and/or teeth of the cat.
I am sorry about your kitty.
Do you want a cream style gravy or just some thickened pan drippin's.
I am looking for something that would be like the gravy in the cans of cat food... the web site that did have some does not make it anymore. my cat has leukemia and eats the gravy and a little of the canned food... as soon as the gravy is gone he is done. and he needs to eat....thanks.
Thank you! I will try that tomorrow!
I got some great suggestions.. the one that worked for me best was to get chicken broth and mix unflavored gelatin in it..The cat liked it best when i nuked it so the jell was almost melty. even if it was melty he licked it up with his food.... i am going to try it with fish stock... thanks for everyone's help
What ratio of broth to gelatin did you use?
