My Russian mother used to give me a spoonful of cognac to "sweat it out." Got any of your own family or home remedies for a cold or the flu?

I've always been very partial to a good quality brandy for medicinal purposes. Seriously. The only time I drink it, as I don't really drink.

drink gingerale with brown sugar, not bad..hoho
You can use following home remedies for cold and flu
1) Drink ginger tea. Ginger tea is antiviral and helps break up the mucus and congestion. Boil 2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger in 8 ounces of water. Let it cool and drink as needed.
2) Make a drink by adding a teaspoon of cumin seeds to 8 ounces of boiling water. Let it seep for a few minutes, strain and drink. Do this about 12 times a day.
...One tablespoon of cayenne pepper with two tablespoons of honey into one cup of boiled hot water. Must drink it as fast as possible (no sipping) ...then you get under the covers in bed and sweat it out....By next day, most of the major flu symptoms will be gone !...

Lemon is the most important among the many home remedies for common cold. It is beneficial in all types of cold with fever. Vitamin C-rich lemon juice increases body resistance, decreases toxicity and reduces the duration of the illness. One lemon should be diluted in a glass of warm water, and a teaspoon of honey should be added to it. This should be taken once or twice daily.
all you have do is drink some gingerale and sleep for a couple hours. then youll be more thirsty so you`d drink more.
If you didn't get a flu shot, and have cold or flu, drink a lot of liquids, and eat very light things as toast, crackers, get plenty of rest, and with a baby or child keep a good watch on temperature, same with adults..be careful what over the counter remedies are used.
