Sweep the floor thoroughly with your broom. Pour 1/4 cup of mild liquid soap into your mop bucket. Fill the mop bucket half full of warm water. Mop the floor with the soapy water. Rinse your mop and bucket and fill the bucket half full of clean, warm water. Mop the floor to remove all the soapy residue. Pour the wood bleach into your 1-gallon bucket. Apply the wood bleach to the entire floor using a sponge. Take your time and cover all the wood flooring. Rinse the bucket with warm water. Allow the bleach to remain on the floor overnight.

Wet a clean cloth and wring out all the excess water. Rub the painted floor with the damp cloth following the grain of the wood. Rub the painted surface gently to expose the upper layers of the wood grain. Rub the entire floor and allow the paint to dry overnight.

Soak up as much as you can with newspaper or paper towels. Cover for five minutes with a cloth saturated with a dry cleaning fluid. Then wipe dry and clean with a detergent. Rub with a cloth dampened with a 1:3 solution of bleach and water. http://htflooringanddesign.com/wood_flooring/default.asp

Hardwood floor cleaning is extremely important. It's necessary to get/ rent a hardwood floor cleaner machine to maintain the upkeep and keep your floors. I got a few price quotes for machines to maintain my hardwoods and was able to go through and compare them to find the best price. I took care of my pickled wood with Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner Concentrate and a floor buffer machine.

Gaps in wood floors

I either use pva glue / resin mixed with wood dust as cheaper alternative or pine slivers if you are having the entire floor resurfaced. If you do not own the property I would opt for the resin mix. Glyn - www.gjpfloorsanding.com
