Hi, I recently was engaged in french kissing someone. They bit my lip once (pretty hard) and I didn't say anything about it. They bit my lip a second time later on, harder this time, and i felt there was some blood in my mouth. Can HIV be transmitted this way, when there is heavy kissing and the lip is cut through biting?

The possibility exists that cuts or sores in the mouth may provide direct access for HIV to enter the bloodstream during prolonged deep kissing. Therefore, blood to blood contact could occur in the mouth which then could result in HIV transmission. To be 100% sure you should be tested.

YES ma'am AIDS/HIV can be passed that way if there is an open cut in your mouth.  if you fear your partner might have this or any other STD's either invest in condoms (when that time comes) and there are disposable mouth dams commonly used in dentistry available if you are enjoying the biting.  by the way, the biting is suppose to be sensual not drawing blood!    be careful  mdukes

My lip may have been cut but i don't know if he had any open sores in his mouth.  Assuning he didn't, would there be a risk of HIV trasmission from his saliva into my bloodstream through the cut?

yes, but much slighter chance of transmission through saliva.

HIV is not spread through saliva (spit). There is an excellent site about how HIV is spread from one person to another that is found at:

i am in agreement with goldengopher, gave him two thumbs.  so many myths about HIV.  it is next to impossible to get HIV from kissing.  unprotected sex, yes.  swapping spit, no.
