Be Blessed. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. In Hinduism followers of religion worshipped myriads of god... total 330 million in all! Amongst the primary of all gods is Hindu Trinity consisting of Lord Brahma (creator)... Lord Vishnu (the maintainer) and Lord Shiva (destroyer)!

However from spirituality point of view... God Almighty was one and only one... termed Brahman in Hinduism! God Almighty is also termed Sanatana Purusha, Karta, Bhagwan, Ishwar and Parmatman in Hinduism!

As the requirement... accordingly the worship! Where people suffered from inadequate water... they prayed to Indra Devta (God of rains)! Those suffering from acute cold prayed to Surya Devta (Sun) in all its glory! Some prayed to sacred rivers... others to sacred mountains!

All in all, Lord Shiva was considered most potent of all... prime reason why we have more of Shiva temples compared to all other gods! For reaching God... contemplating on Brahman was the only way out! As per Bhagavad Gita what was only one... termed Brahman in Hinduism!
