What does the Higgs Boson discovery have to do with the Labratory in the Homestake Mine in S.D. ?

They both look for sub-atomic particles, but that's the only similarity.  The laboratory at the bottom of a mine looks for neutrinos.   The Higgs boson experiments start with protons accelerated near the speed of light, which smash into each other from opposite directions, producing particles that are very energetic.

There are several hundred University-funded experiments now being carried on in abandoned mines.  Some of the most promising are not looking for WIMPS (Weakly Interactive Massive Particles) but indeed biological experiments, looking for the first organisms that populated ancient earth.

I, for one, am continually amazed at the antiquity of God's creation.

Just to know the extremes that life can endure, trapped for millennia in solid rock, is amazing!

We will not know thefull amazing truth of God's hand in Creation until we actually synthesize a living cell that has no relation to any terrestrial organism.

Then, we will find that God made one like it long before we did.

THEN, ladies and gentlemen, we will know that we are actually onto something.
