Usually the only funeral benefits are from Veteran's Administration, and Social Security a lump sum death benefit to a surviving spouse of $255.00.  Most States do not have any benefits.  However you need to check in NJ at the county level if there are funds for indigent care.  Some medical schools will take a remains for Medical Research thru a willed body donation program.
