Go to Lowes or Home Depot and ask for the name of a plumber or technician who works on residential natural gas systems and have someone come out and fix it for you.

Natural gas is very unforgiving and if you don't know exactly what you are doing you could hurt yourself and/or your family!

I don't know where you live but in nyc to shut the main gas valve off you need a Lic. plumber

Hey --- Kinda late , but this will be usefull.

1: Turn off the gas at the meter.

2: Turn on all your gas appliances

3: Find a Union as close to the meter as possible.[ A union is where two pieces of pipe can be put together by a three piece device called a union]. Break a union as close to the meter as possible

4: Give 1/2 hour for residual gas to air out.

5: Cut a 4 inch section out of the pipe that is leaking , then unscrew the two pieces left over

6: You now have to measure to replace that pipe with 2 nipples and a union. The measurements will vary depending on size of pipe.

7: Once you have proper measurements, reinstall piping with Teflon tape or pipe dope, double/triple check for leaks with the gas off. Double triple check for leaks with the gas on.

Your good to go ....... #mce_temp_url#
