Is It Okay To Break A Xanax 0.5mg In Half And Take It?

I usually take .25mg of xanax but I do not have anymore. My mom gave me a couple 0.5mg xanax to take but Im scared to take it because I've never taken that high of a dosage. Is it okay if I break the 0.5mg xanax in half? Is that equal to the .25mg xanax that I usually take?

melissajc04,  Yes, it is o.k. to cut it in half, as long as it is not the extended release formula.  Those you cannot cut in half.
