You might have to change you name with the birth certificate department, so you get your birth certificates with the changed name.

Your name at birth remains with you for life.  Women have the option to adopt the name of their husband (it is not required, but a privilege we allow graciously).

To change your name legally requires a day in court, you must show that you are not trying to defraud your creditors, and that you are not trying to evade arrest on outstanding warrants.

One group that is particularly notorious for the unlawful assumption of new names is the Muslim Order.  This rather obnoxious cult scoffs at the law, and uses assumed names to frustrate the collection of debts and the exercise of legal processes.

Muslims are also infamous for changing their names repeatedly, as warrants accumulate and debts pile to the ceiling.

Judges are never amused at these tactics, will revert your name to that on your birth certificate, and will list all your AKA's for prosecution.

Lois Lerner, head of the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt organizations office, said at a hearing into the IRS's targeting of conservative groups on Wednesday, May 22 that she has done nothing wrong but declined to answer lawmakers' questions, invoked her constitutional right against self-incrimination.
