What has happened to the area right around the Chernobyl nuclear power station since the disaster?

Answers

Pretty much nothing.  It was thoroughly looted after the disaster, and has since become a "ghost town", cordoned off by security checkpoints.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
