why is all the "expert" advice for curly hair so high maintenance? who but a teenager has that kind of time to spend grooming? It shouldn't have to be all about how many products and in what order you use them. It should be about a good haircut (not hair style) that flatters the wearer. If a hair stylist can charge more per hour than a general practioner, then they should be able to customize a style for a client. A woman with curly hair walks in to a salon for the first time, before she gets whisked away to the shampoo bowl she pleads to first speak with the stylist. The stylist begins sorting through tufts of hair and asks "so, what would you like done today?" "Well, you're the stylist, what do you recommend?" Then after a consult and cut-the stylist grabs the blow dryer and a brush. For what, you ask. To blow out the cut that you were under the impression was designed for your curly hair. Once we get health care reformed someone should step in and reform hair care.

I love this post. I would never spend more then 30 min on my hair and only 30 min every couple of days. I find that not washing my hair every day helps keep it straighter longer, so I use a smoothing product and a flat iron (this amazing one here:http://www.myhairstylingtools.com/karmin-salon-pink-hair-styling-flat-iron-p-413.html) and I'm good to go for several days. I use an old lady shower cap and this really helps so the steam in the shower doesn't make it curly.

Simple and easy.

Has anyone noticed that most female celebrities have generic, long straight(ened) hair? Why? Because they don't have to style it themselves. It takes hours of products, heat, and appliances to prepare them for a publicity day or night out. Get real.
