Gummibear

i'm a 52 year-old male and i just shoveled a heap of snow.  before i went outside to do it, i popped a piece of chewing gum i my mouth, and for some reason the chore seemed easier and less stressful to do.  could the gum have anything to do with it?  is there any benefit to chewing gum while doing stressful activities?  have any studies been done to anybody's knowledge?

just wondering!  thanks for your time!

Interesting enough, chewing gum has been found to relieve your stress and give you peace of mind in a recent study. Basically, the study was done with by the Wrigley Science Institute and presented at the tenth International Congress of Behavior Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. This study was done in 2008. This study took 40 people and put them in situations that caused high stress like multi tasking. They put the individuals through some situations that are designed to cause high stress levels. Final results of this showed that the participants who chewed gum experienced less stress then those who didn't chew gum. With this specific example it does seem that chewing gum does relieve stress. Personally, in high school I would chew gum in games and it seemed to let me relax and play with a calm but high intense style. It is possible that you chewing gum may have made it easier to shovel the snow. Wrigley's Chewing Gum did a study with 40 people and proved that chewing gum was beneficial?
