I don't know about an antiseptic, but it is an astringent and can be used to draw wounds together to stop bleeding. And it has been used in poultices to treat wounds so it may have some antiseptic value.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.
