Why can't you be grateful?

Why don't Americans have a sense of gratitude?  If you knew how it is in Mexico, you'd be more grateful.

Elena, bless you and yours also!  Thanks for your kind words.

We like it here a lot.  As good as it is, it will get better if we all just work together and make America what it can be.  Where your treasure is, there your heart is also.

I remember a tall guy who stood in a bleacher with about 700 other immigrants and stuck his hand in the air.  He said, "I pledge allegiance ......."  That was a wealthy movie producer from Austria named Arnold Shwartzenegger (sp?).  He said the proudest thing he ever did was to become an American -- and that was after making five big movies!

Rosa and I were so proud to do the same thing.  We sure don't take it for granted.  It just feels good to be here.  It is home.  That's something you don't want to leave.

Miguel,

Not all Americans are ungrateful. I know you read this website and you wonder. I am so grateful for everything the Lord has done for me. I am grateful to my country also, but first all praise and honor goes to God. Because without him nothing would be possible.

I live a comfortable life now, but I can remember as a child, when life was tough. I was a happy child and had a good upbringing, but financially, times were very had. Therefore I can't afford not to be grateful.

I would like to encourage you to hold on and have faith, things will get better. Please don't let some of the comments on this website give you a bad impression of all Americans, because we are not all like that. We are grateful to God and our country.

Be Blessed and much love

Be Blessed. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Hello, Tippy!

I am very grateful to be in America.  This is the best place to live I have ever seen!  I settled here to raise my family, care for our elders, educate our children.  I can think of no place on earth God has blessed more.

We walk the streets safely, do not have to carry weapons (we may, but don't have to) and when you see a law enforcement officer, you don't have to grovel at his hand.  Judges don't demand to be paid before creditors!  Jury duty is not a joke in poor taste!  We don't have to think of our leaders as little tin gods and we can vote for who we want in office -- without a soldier in the booth to make sure you don't vote the wrong way.

There are lots of places where that still happens.  America has put pressure on these corrupt regimes and has come back with results.  Venezuela has a government that hates us because they say we're not minding our own business.  That is why I will not buy gas from a Citgo station: that gas comes from Venezuela, and they hope to destroy America by negatively influencing people here to hate the officers we elect!

The world is a bitter and sinful place.  God saved us from that if we will only listen.  God bless America.  This is my home.

I am so glad that you are here, and may you forever live in peace.

Be Blessed, your friend

you might not agree with this but here goes any way, this country was created as a republic founded on freedom which also includes free interprise, free market in which has made this country very wealthy, alot of countrys such as mexico have not always had a free market/interprice., therefore the country has not had the chance to become more prosperous.

That's the truth.  Most of Mexico is rural, Mexico City has large suburbs and good employment, but much of Mexico is subsistence farming.  People barter because they don't trust the money.  Also there is no way to tax bartered goods.

250 American companies have come to Mexico to do their assemblies, mostly computers and audio components.  People build fast buildings out of cardboard and throw their waste water in pools outside the living area.  It gets really rank.

Raytheon and Textron took a look at the way my people build and brought in American construction people to build homes any American would accept.  They put in sewers and water, electricity and waste treatment plants. Just about anything you'd find here.

Then they found out that the people working for Textron and Raytheon moved back into their old shanties and rented out the nice homes Raytheon and Textron built, which does nothing to solve the problems that these big companies came there to solve.

It isn't a question of money.  It is a question of culture.  I grew up here, so I am well used to America.  But my parents grew up under a dictatorship and they still fear the government -- because that is how it always was for them, growing up, regardless that everything has changed for the better.

It is hard to convince people here how good we have it.

Does the need for everyone to bear arms in the world today not make you uncivilised...!!? What if you saw an Iraqi family with a magnum ? would you label them an uncivilised Terrorist?

Paddster, kindly stay on the topic.  The topic is, "Why can't you be grateful, but you have tried to confuse the issue with something you are ignorant about and suffer a debilitating, morbid, paranoid fixation: atheism and gun control.

I do not plan to convert to your cult -- atheism.  But why do you obsess so much to guns?  Is it that under current law, you are legally forbidden to keep and bear arms, due to a criminal conviction, mental health complaint, drug addiction, or disabling alcoholism?

Kindly note that Switzerland is the most civilized nation on earth.  That is because EVERYONE is armed, therefore, we see again the fact that an armed society is a polite society.  That fact sends paranoids into frothing rage but sane persons do not fear other sane persons who have the sense and decency to take proper care of themselves.

That was why Hitler shied away instantly from any attempt to take over Switzerland: even with Blitzkrieg tactics, his land forces and Luftwaffe were no match for expert marksmen who knew their homeland and would defend it appropriately.

Polite people do not "empower" hippies, pederasts, and neo-Nazis.

That is why these people and teir surly ilk want to rob you of ANY hope to defend your life.  And they will make up utterly phony "studies" to back up their insulting and invalid "case."

So it is with all brainwashed fools.

I would rather be with polite armed people than irritating little nerds who couldn't pour water out of a boot if the directions were written on the heel.

I have much to be grateful for.  Our nation is currently the finest that history has ever seen.  But if we change America, we will have much less to be grateful for.

Loyalty is the costliest virtue that exists: it includes your life. Disloyalty is the costliest vice that exists: it includes your soul.
