Does anyone know if there is something you can put on your lawn to stop your dog (and others) to stop pooping in the yard?? Someone said there was something you could spread on the grass to deter them, however, I've had no luck finding it??
there are things but nothing to keep a dog or cat from an entire lawn. Most products are spot type, like out of a flower bed or away from a tree but nothing for an entire lawn(most these products last only 24 hrs). For you to spread something like this out on your lawn would cost a small fortune.
Bummer!! But I was afraid of that!! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question.
Some of the things I've read may work are mothballs placed around the edges of the yard, spraying the edge of the yard with vinegar (have to repeat this after it rains), a mix of cayenne and red pepper, Listerine, and depending on where you live, a motion-activated sprinkler. Some pet shops and garden centers also sell deterrent sprays.
Some people claim that if a man urinates on the lawn, it would deter dogs, but I'm not sure I wouldn't rather deal with the dog poop
If the same dogs are the ones doing this, I would try talking to the owner
There is a product you can buy usually at a Feed & Seed store called Liquid Fence. They have it for dogs & cats in particular. Comes with a full money back guarantee. You will want to spray it near any entrances to your yard (i.e. yard before street; yard your side vs the neighbors). It is liquid; will not hurt your vegetation however you will have to re-apply after rain... no big deal if your border area is not large... you can adjust the amount that comes out of the container. I do like the comment by maxsmom... if repeat offenders (same dogs/owners) have a talk with or hand poop bags on a hook temporarily (grocerie store, newspaper bags) until they get the message out there to bring their own when walking their pets or letting them loose! Good luck!
I had a neigbors gog keep "going" in my yard. Wal Mart sells a can of animal repellant for 8 dollars. Put une can on each side on the property line, another across the fron and back and flower beds, havnt had doggie doo in my yard in over 2 weeks now. Can says lasts over 1 month, the animals hate the smell so get trained not to go near the smell so even after it wears off it is supposed to keep working. Guess Ill see pretty soon.
Some dogs react strongly to other animals smells and odours. If you've been using organic fertilisers try using a chemical one for a short period and vice versa. Also use a good pooper scooper .
Boy, I REALLY wish I had an answer! Someone's dog keeps pooping on my lawn. I have heard one suggestion (although not sure if it works!) to sprinkle hot pepper seeds. I will be trying this once the rain stops!

In the neighborhoods of South Los Angeles and East Los Angeles there are bottles of water on the lawns. These bottles keep dogs and cats from pooping on the lawn. During the 70's I worked a lot in Venice California. At the time there was unenforced dog leash laws. I always bought smooth sole shoes, because I would accedentaly stepped on the stuff. In areas with lots of dogs, there was lots of bottles of water, also lots of roofs of cars were dented from kids escaping from the dogs.
