Why is it that the government can send billions of ...

Why is it that the government can send billions of dollars overseas to help the hungry and needy but can not help its own US people that are starving and have no jobs to pay thier bills? But know one cares if we sleep on the street in congress.Do not get me wrong it is a good thing that we help others but please lets help our own first.

Hi Big Jim,

Thank you for posting this question. I was thinking about this too.

Why don't you write your Senators and Congressman and ask them this question? Right now, there are so many people who are suffering financially here in the U.S. and it only makes sense to taper off sending money to other countries.

I don't think England, Germany France, Canada, China and Japan are sending money abroad to help others. This Administration should focus first on the welfare of its own people. We are borrowing money from China and it only makes sense to stop doing this. If this country is overflowing with money, there's nothing wrong with giving other people. I think we should observe the saying that Charity begins at home.

DB is correct. Just remember this has been going on for years, and the American taxpayer has been complaining, but it is like talking to a wall. I will always remember those terrible pictures that we all saw as a result of Hurricane Katrina. How much better off is the 9th Ward today?

Big Jim, I have thought about this subject ever since I was a little boy. I have always wondered after hearing about how we needed money for this and that in our country, why are we sending so much financial help overseas. Charity is supposed to begin at home. I am not against helping other people and countries, but just the other day I heard that our government is sending millions of dollars in aid to the Hamas government to help them. They area terrorist organization last time I heard.
