Scott,  The first thing I wonder about it how high is the fruit off the ground.  That would help determin what migh be eating the fruit.  If you are in an area where water is hard to find many animals will go to where ever they have to, to find moisture.  Groundhogs will stand on their hind legs and eat most any food and deer will also.  One of the things is look for the foot prints around the plant.   You can rake the ground then in the morning look.  There are several mixtures out there that will keep animals away.  Deer Scram is one we use around here that works on deer, rabbits, groundhogs etc.
