It would be wiser all around if you had the Florist get you some black ones. If you are talking about artificial roses, dying white ones with a liquid black dye might work but if they are not of cloth or silk it wouldn't work at all. The other problem being what you are using them for.If they are not rinsed when dyed the dye will come off on clothes or anything else it touches. But if you rinse silk roses they may wrinkle where they look bad, bad. I would buy a cheap one of cloth and try it. If it doesn't work then you haven't lost roses or clothes. Good luck. Wear good plastic gloves or you will never get the dye off with soap and water.

Fill a clean, flower vase with water.

  • Step 2
Add black dye to the water. If you do not have black dye, try black ink. Add as much dye or ink as is necessary to turn the water almost opaque black.

  • Step 3
Add plant food to the water and stir to dissolve it. The tiny packets of plant food that are usually included with roses purchased at a flower shop are fine.

  • Step 4
Cut 1 to 2 inches off of the bottom of each stem at an angle under cool running water. Remove any leaves that are below the vase's water line.

  • Step 5
Place the roses into the water. The stems will carry the dye to the blooms, gradually turning them black. The longer the flowers remain in the water, the darker they will become. It may take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days for the roses to turn black, depending on the variety.

Hello, depending on if you are growing or using fresh roses,If you plan to "GROW" black roses ,mix two teaspoons black dye to 5 cups water, once a week water with black water, add Miracle grow to produce as many blooms as possible also will be larger blooms! If using cut flowers the other suggestion was correct, cut at angle in a bowl of cool water (the first thing the flower will "inhale" will be water not AIR ,resulting in a tipping head)Then add the dye, strong mixture. This also works with other white flowers.Try mixing your own colors, pink flowers with green dye, yellow with red and so on .Good luck !!
