crawl under it and screw it off, then screw new one on

There are two filters.  One up by the oil filter on top of the engine and one down on the drivers side frame rail.  The one on top is easy.  For the one on bottom, I open the fuel cap to release any possible pressure built up.  The one on bottom has to be bled by a drain opened by a hex wrench.  Close the hex plug. Then a 36 mm socket will work to unscrew the cover.  If this is the first time to remove the cover from the bottom filter, the cover will be hard or tight when removing.  This is a mess so catch as much as you can when draining.  Approx. 1 pint+ comes out.  Be sure to follow installation instructions and replace the old gaskets with the new ones provided.
