In fact, most fast food chains have added healthier options to their menus in the past couple of years.
there are a few basic rules you should keep in mind when trying to pick healthy fast foods. Remember that good options should include:
Hi Lydia! Dee's answers were right on the money. I was going to suggest ordering the salads & keep the dressing to a minimum. A friend of mine recently had the $1 salad at Burger King & it was good. You can order the grilled chicken & not the roll for a good lunch/dinner. Most of the fast food chains have the caloric/fat content listed on the reverse side of the sheet that lines the tray; ask for an extra & keep it in your bag for reference. Rosie
I know of a place called Mongolian Express, which is basically chinese fast food. If you opt for white rice and chicken or shrimp instead of beef, with the vegetables they provide, and maybe a diet drink or water versus diabetic coma juice, you are GOOD TO GO. Fast food is not meant to be eaten on a regular basis. Remember to order small portions, and replace 'fruit for fries' whenever you can bring yourself to do so.
Happy eating!
Hi again Lydia, The answer is generally no. Although salads with light dressing and grilled chicken breast sandwiches, may sound o.k., they are usually high in sodium. Make your own in less time than standing in line. I make an excellent BIg Mac type with lean ground beef, sauce (olive oil mayo, ketchup, pickle relish, onion, mustard). Buy whole wheat buns and boneless chicken breast and make your own. Fries can be made by slicing potatoes, adding a bit of bread crumbs, olive oil, garlic - yum. Enjoy!

There are some good answers here.
I will just add my personal opinion and experience:
In my opinion: IT IS POSSIBLE but difficult to find and to really enjoy much fast food eaten out, except that salads and fruits are now being offered (with "lite" dressings) and that is the easiest and surest way for me to try and eat healthy at fast food (i.e. junk food) joints!
And I don't find it so much fun to smell and see all that tempting stuff all around me ... as others munch on hot, greasy french fries etc, while I eat the salad and fruit; thus I don't see much point in going there.
It's easier to pick up a salad or fruit bowl at the local grocery store and go eat it on a park bench or picnic table (or even in your car) than to pass through the junk food places. Or go home and eat fruit, salad and good vegetables ... low calories, low fat and tasty.
