Pull the excess tape out till it's straight (be careful not to pull any extra out). Snip at the end of the center and then tie both ends together in a small but tight knot at the nose.  Cut off the excess and carefully tuck the knot into the receiving end.  Quickly drag the nose to the right as if you were making a correction.  Your tape should be as good as new.
