Once done click on DELETE COOKIES then click on OK

Still on INTERNET OPTIONS click on CONNECTIONS tab
Make sure NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION is selected then click on OK
Still on CONNECTIONS tab click on LAN SETTINGS button make sure nothing is selected then click on OK then OK.

B. Then try this:

right click on the AOL icon near the time on the taskbar and click SYSTEM INFORMATION
Click on UTILITIES tab then click on CLEAR CURRENT CACHE.

Thanks - I performed all these steps you advise. However, the final instruction stomped me as my AOL icon down at the right hand corner of my screen (near the clock) when I right click, only gives me 3 options, being, AOL Software Update, AOL Spyware Protection, Notifications.

Why am I still getting this same error reading Status: 513 Misconfigured Proxy Route Cache-Control: no-cache Pragma: no-cache Connection: close Content-Type: text/html **  when I try to write or respond to an emial? RJ

I have AOL 9.0 The AOl icon at the bottom of the screen includes "One click fix" open that and go to connectivity, and choose rebuild Aol adapter. If you do not have AOL 9.0 that go to control panel, remove your current AOl and download 9.0 SE.

I hope this has been a help

Here's what finally worked for me - hope it can help somebody. From START open CONTROL PANEL, click ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS & remove everything you see that's AOL. (Keep in mind, I have a Dell w/ Windows XP & AOL came w/pkg, so it's still in there somewhere on hard drive - don't know if that's true for everyone.) Follow prompts to SHUT DOWN & RESTART; AOL option w/automatically present: INSTALL, and voila!- no more 513 Misconfiguration headaches AND everything is still intact ie Favorites list, color scheme, etc.

Urgent Addendum To My Previous PostThe '513' Bastard Is Right Back Where It Was!! The fix only lasted a few minutes - if anyone can take this temporary intervention & figure out how to make it work, i'm sure we'd all be delirious with joy. All applicable input appreciated. Thanks. Yell

That did the trick ~ Thank you !

If no AOL icon near the time on the taskbar you can try this:

Click on START select ALL PROGRAMS, place the mouse on AOL or AMERICA ONLINE and check if System Information appears.
Click on System Information then click on Utilities tab and click on Clear Current Cache or Clear Browser Cache.

Go to AOL Keyword menu (top menus of the software).

Click Go to Keyword (keyboard shortcut - CTRL+K).

Type Browser Fix then click go.

Read the popup and follow the rest of the instructions in the popup.
