I'm a fifteen year old female who weighs 158 pounds and is 5'3. i am biking two miles every day, doing a zumba dance dvd, 100 crunches, and 20 pushups a day.  I'm also in gym class five days a week for forty five minutes. How long should it take me to lose 25 lbs?

I know I've said this many times before, but the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. Since I know your height and gender I can tell you that you are burning approximately 1300 calories a day just by being alive. What I mean by that is your biology's natural processes like breathing, etc. is buring 1300 calories. Then you need to consider all the activity you get in daily, like zumba, gym class, and other factors like cleaning your room. Add these daily calories burned to the calories you naturally burn (1300) and this will give you the number of daily calorie burn. The next part of the equation is calories you ingest. You can not have less than 1000 or this would be equal to starvation. That being said you're still probably going to want to have over 1,000, because you need to get in all the proper nutrients for your body to function appropriately. With the rate of daily activity you are getting I strongly suggest not dropping below 1500. I wouldn't count calories daily, because this is a recipe for unhappiness and possible insanity. Your target should range between 1500-2000 calories a day and just keep up your wonderfully healthy exercise program. This would enable you to drop 1-2 lbs. a week, which is what is ideal in terms of health.
