We can pay our bills but have little cash on hand. We know the problem, two big credit card debts totaling $40,000 at a combined rate of about 12%. We have 7 years left on our original mortgage and twelve years left on a home equity loan (total of about $140,000). We have one child still to get through college (we have saved about $20000 in a TAP fund). Both my wife and I have retirement plans, but not of any great value (a combined 40k). Being a teacher I have an excellent retirement plan and will be eligible to retire within the next three years. If we could manage the two credit cards in a better fashion, I know things would be better. Suggestions?

I hope that you find your answer. My husband and I are in the same position. The only difference is that we will be seperating mostly in part to finances. A word to the wise.....Love each other, communicate, and don't let money issues rule and destroy your lives. Good Luck.
