Cats can eat dog food with fewer problems than dogs that eat cat food. Dogs should not eat cat food because it has a lot of ingredients that may make them fat and it can also cause your dog to have health problems involving its organs because dogs don't process cat food ingredients the same way a cat does.

Cat food contains too much protein and it contains ash which is not good for dogs. Not only can they not process it as well, but it can leave protein deposits in their eyes.  Canned cat food can send a small dog into a pancreatitis attack which can be deadly.

No, it won't hurt your dog. It's old wives tales that the occasional snack of cat food will hurt your dog. I've often used catfood as training treats for my dogs.
