Fat above the waist line

No matter how much I exercise, I can't get rid of the fat right above the waistline. Any suggestions on how to do this?

First of all do you need to lose some pounds.  That is often where fat will accumulate.  stretching and lifting weights...as well as pilates for core muscles.  Also cut carbs out after late afternoon.

I do need to lose between 10 and 15 lbs. I do floor exercises, 5 lb. weights, and sit ups. I can't do aerobics because of a deteriation in a disc. I am 65 and weigh 162. I am 5'5" so I do need to lose around the waist area. I am apple shaped and know this is not good. I exercise about 4 days a week and for only about 20 minutes at a time, so this is probably not enough. Thanks for the tip on carbs. If you have other suggestios, please shar them.

Iam not bragging.  Iam around your age and weigh 125 (5'6") and have a flat tummy...I exercise five days a week for one hour..Do pilates and yoga, hike, bike andwork out at the gym (not all at once)...I do not eat any ofthe whites...and abundance of veggies and fruit...occ. splurge.  It is a daily committment and you have to want to improve!!!!...For me it is who I am and what I believe.  So start today...change eating habits, lose the excess weight...and walk a lot...

There's many reasons for it to be honest. Change the way you exercise is a key one. Research has shown that slow steady cardio isn't the best way to lose fat. High intensity cardio is more efficient at burning fat. Your diet is 90% of the battle too. Eating as little as possible won't necessarily burn fat, but burn through other tissue like your muscle for example. I tried all kinds of exercise to get rid of my love handles but nothing seemed to work. I found out that it is a misconception that exercising the part you want to reduce will make a big difference.
