How to make old condominiums look new...we live on ...

how to make old condominiums look new...we live on a 26 acre wooded site in Hawaii....that has 4   12 story buildings (cinder block construction/concrete ceilings)...built in 1973....exterior needs a face lift.  Ground loor units have no cover over the lanai/patio areas..upper floors all have covered balconies..would retractable awnings be an improvement?  Any other suggestions for exterior would be appreciatedCool
