Jello is indestructable.  It is sugar, artificial color and flavor and gelatin.  Nothing else. You can nuke the stuff and it will probably still become a semisolid wobbly mass of colored sugar.  I know for a fact that I used a box of lime jello that I had for at least 4 years.

The expiration date is on the end flap. You will see the words "Best When Used By and then you will see 04 JAN 2011 D2 07:58.  My box of cherry jell-o is good until January 04, 2011.

If it still smells ok and the powder has not solidified, then continue to use it. If not, then throw it out and buy a new one.

Did you use the large Jell-o box or small? Thanks

Large jello because the small is not enough.

"prescribtion expiration dates" Less effective or are they harmful to

They are usually not as effective BUT some medications taken internally or instilled in the eye could be sources of harmful germs if way oudated or not stored according to instructions. Your pharmacist can be more helpful for specific prescriptions.
