What to expect from a person coming out of a state ...

You know  you should mention this to her doctor.  Perhaps medication is the cause.  After talking with the doctor, if I were dealing with this problem, I would be (or try to be) as patient as I could be and simply talk with her and explain (in simple words) what she went through.  She is probably afraid because of losing her memory.  My mother-in-law was going through a similar episode.  She was 98  and we had to show her the kind of patience you show a little child.  We didn't tell her too much.  We answered all her questions simply and she was satisfied and then in a few minutes she would start in again.   These situations take a lot of patience and a great deal of love.  Not all older people are easy to talk with in this way.  I hope, for your sake, your mother is thoughtful and kind to you as you both learn each other again.  God Bless.

They have!  Quite often.  It is always nice to hear back from them, but that is not the reason one should be answering questions, just to get compliments.   Throughout the years, (4) there have been many who have said "Thanks."

Sorry but you probably forget that your mom is 91...... and she is not going to be younger & healthier..... Events like you described will happen more often and more intense.  Better be ready.  Don't do anything (it won't help.....).  Give your mom all your love, be there for her and be with endless petience !.



P.S - my mom is 94 and I have the same experience.... sometimes it "kills" me to see her and her condition (physical & mental)..... but at the same time I thank G-d that she is relatively OK......  Mark Twain wrote once: "When I consider the alternatives I choose that one"......
