Why do so many uptight people put down Ashley Dupre just because she was making 500,000 a year doing something that alot of "respectable" women do on the first date for free?
Prostitutes have long been the vector of the most crippling diseases that the human race has ever known. More importantly, prostitution is the most ruthless "profession" that ever existed. Young women and increasingly young men who enter "the trade" come down with more than AIDS: they come down with stab wounds, gunshot wounds, drug addiction, they bring their children into this desultory practice, and finally, the whole mess ends in grimy death.
Excusing prostitution only encourages the most dangerous of its wanton perversion and makes its inherent vice a public health menace of the first order.
There is nothing fun or romantic about it. It only results in grisly death.
It's in people's nature to "put down" something they don't understand or agree with. It doesn't seem a very moral life style. however. I would "put down" the person hiring Ms. Dupre more than I would fault her. It seems a horrible waste of money.
