What is a good plot for a psychological thriller novel I want to write?

Oh I could give you all kinds of ideas for that!  But then again, why would I?  If I have to come up with the plot, wouldn't I just write the book myself?

......It was a cold rainy day when TC awoke. And as he tried to shake off the cold sweat he had woken up in, the rain kept coming down. Pounding on the window by his bed. And as he went into the kitchen to pour himself a cup of yesterdays coffee, he felt the cold wet rain pounding inside his head; it just would not let up. And neither would the sweat on his sleep deprived brow. As he walked to his computer, carrying his cold, old cup of coffee; he sat in front of the monitor thinking of the bitter after taste of yesterdays brew. Choking back the bile, he began to type the following: ...What is a good plot for a psychological thriller novel I want to write?...And just then, there was a knock on the door, three times it tapped with a sound that drowned out the pounding rain upon his bedroom window and in his head...

He was in no mood for visitors, this early and dismal morning. But he got up anyway and went to the door walking on nervous feet. At the door he ask, "Who's there". No answer from the other side. Though he was a bit unnerved, he was also cautious. He went back to the kitchen, searching among his meager utensils. Finally settling on grabbing the meat tenderizer, the one with the handle. He again approached the door, "Who's there!". His question met, only with silence. Ticked off now, with tenderizer raised, he yanked open the door. But no one was there. He glanced left and right, peering down the dank darkened hallway. His eyes came to rest at his feet, and on the floor was a yellow slip of paper. He picked it up. It was a message from Western Union Telegraph. He read the message on the worn, yellowed slip of paper: [must meet...at midnight ...behind the old library....speak of this to ...no one....stop]. As he stood there dumb founded, he happened to notice the date ...1955....But the year this morning was ...1975....

I'm a professional writer. And I don't mean to discourage you. But if you can't come up with dozens of ideas to write about, then you're just not doing it right. Most of us have more ideas than we can ever use. We keep a notebook handy and write it all down. the best plots and stories come when 2 or more seemingly unrelated ideas blend together. And the main thing to ask is 'what if?'.

You need to read a great deal in the genre in which you want to write.
