You just go to any photographer and tell them you need head shots taken. Look up local photographers in the phonebook (make sure its a legite company and not some perv with a camera!)

Also, if you have friend's with good headshots, you could ask them which photographer they used. Phone book searches work but I would at least try to ask around to see who has a good "word of mouth" reputation. Definitely, check on the quality of the photographer's work before agreeing to anything by looking at their portfolios. The photographer will "own" the photos so, in keeping with the good suggestion of tiffanimalone, only allow photos which are comfortable for you and in good taste. There are plenty of actors out there who have had photos taken early in their careers which they wish had never been taken......So exercise caution. Good luck in your career!

Try the local university photography students. Usually they are looking for practice, and as long as you pay for film they would be happy that you let them take your picture (if you are looking to save a bit of money, you cant go wrong...).

I am a photographer....just to let you know..not all photographers know what a headshot needs to look like and portray for acting/modeling. It also depends on where you are. New York casting agencies/agents/ect like something a little bit different than those in say California or Atlanta. Your photographer needs to know where you plan on suceeding and also needs to know what those different looks are. Sure you can get anyone to take a head shot, but you need someone who really KNOWS the business, not just someone cheep looking for experience if you really want your photo to pop out and catch the eye of agencies/casting agents. Where are you?
