School isn't meant for entertainment. It's a place of learning. Smile

What would Gibbs do?

If you mean arts education in democratic nations, the arts are underfunded in public and private schools pre- college. There has been too much violence in schools that diminish basic education and too few employment opportunities in arts that keep kids safe to make arts education a leading educational priority.

If you mean entertainment for children as part of recess or recreational time, children have supervised play time.

Other than that, NCISfan is 100% accurate. Children's entertainment is not a recognized aspect of education within any school system both because of education being the priority and because of violence having become more commonplace by a majority of students who are rebellious at younger ages. When a majority are against any education, their peers and teachers basic education is too interrupted to include arts education, that caters to a very small minority of exceptional students, who might benefit from it. In otherwords, the risk to student and teacher safety and school success out weighs the need and the cost of including a college elective curriculum in elementary, junior and high schools.

Given the rate of social violence, drugs and hazing on college campuses, I would not be surprised if arts education becomes completely a thing of the past; exceptional students in or outside of the arts, including sports are generally targets for students looking for an easy pass and fun over learning.

It's very sad but, the answer begins with parental responsibility and control at an early age in children. Most teachers and parents prefer a safe school environment first for the few who ruin the education system out of sheer hatred.

Maybe if they can get that under enough control for long enough, arts and sports will become as equal to technology as is fair to every student who must one day cut the apron strings and stand on their own. THAT, safe education provides equally to all students, whether they use it to better their lives or destroy themselves and others.
