The nonsense name Ish Kabibble was used in humorous publications as far  back as 1912. bish kabibbleBut it became commonly known when Merwyn Bogue  used it as a stage name, when he became a novelty performer in the Kay Kyser Band, between 1939-50.  He was significantly popular during that period.  He died in 1994.
