How do i get my english bulldogs weight down?

my english bulldog is almost 3 years ol. but he has had weigth issues all throughout. i have put him on a soy protein dry food diet with carrots and he is still putting on weight. he hardly ever wants to excercise. he is now 37 kgs. i am so worried. i am hoping that those in the bulldog owners community can help advise me. the vet has now put my dog on special canned food. if anyone can help me i would be most grateful.

You said he hardly ever wants to exercise. What happens when you take him for a walk? Just like a person, he might enjoy the social aspect of walking with you, even if he just sits around on his own.

Walking or playing with him will surely help. Don't mention the word "exercise" since that might be a deterent for him to even move! haha! As long his vet does not thing he has hormonal imbalances causing such weight problems, exercise should be his best friend. I just hope you will have to time for it. :)
