Are there certain diamond cuts that are cheaper than others? I am interesting in knowing which diamond cuts are cheaper. I know I shouldn't but I would love to steer my girlfriend towards the less ...

There are several ways in which you can buy diamonds in a cheaper/ less pricier:

1) Slight inclusions can save you thousands of dollars

2) opt for less than 1 carat (.97 etc instead of 1.00 carats can save you a lot of money)

3) Opt for D-F colorless diamonds (G-J colorless ones are pricier)

4) Buy online instead of looking from place to place

5)Set the stone on palladium or gold (cheaper metals)

6)Place the stone on a 14k instead of 18k gold

7) look for coupons from jewelry stores

8) Buy loose diamonds so you can choose a cheaper metal for the ring

9) Set the ring on a thin metal so the diamond looks large, set it as bezel, as halo or as elongated (also makes the stone look larger hence you don't have to spend more on a bigger stone.)
