Discuss Heather John's answer to: Energy saving lights

Do "energy saving" lightbulbs give off the same light as the regular ones? Do they last substantially longer?

Energy efficient lighting includes fluorescent lights and LED lights. Compared to incandescent lamps, these last significantly longer. For example, incandescent lights last 1200 hours. LEDs last 50,000 hours and CFLs have a lifespan of 8,000 hours. However, you must use the right fixture so that these energy saving lamps must have proper ventilation. If it does not the energy efficient lights might overheat and burn out early.
